Norman Family opens Children’s Sanctuary

Rick Norman, Of Counsel with Taylor Porter Law Firm, and his family open Cambodia Children’s Sanctuary in February outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Fifteen Children under 11 years of age live and take after-school classes at the sanctuary.

The program began with Norman’s daughter, Rosie, who traveled to Asia for an internship in landscape architecture. During a boat tour of Tonle Sap Lake, she first saw children begging for money. After many questions answered by her tour guide, Chin Sokha, Rosie realized what she could do to help.

“So about six of us went and got supplies, took them to the school and passed them out to the kids,” Rosie explains. “The kids stood up and clapped. And I thought, ‘Wow, these are just erasers and pencils.”

Rosie and Rick Norman visited the sanctuary in March. They brought four duffel bags, each with 50 pounds of school supplies and clothes.
