Ann M. Halphen

Of Counsel

Ann M. Halphen has extensive experience handling professional liability, general insurance, and health care-related matters.  In addition, Ms. Halphen has had significant successes in defending hospitals in medical staff privilege, qui tam and peer review disputes, including HCQIA defenses and EMTALA claims. Ms. Halphen has tried successfully multiple medical malpractice cases, involving various specialties, as lead trial counsel. Ms. Halphen also has particular experience with arbitrating contracts through the American Health Lawyers Association including physician recruitment and employment agreements.

Ms. Halphen represents several homeowner insurance companies on coverage issues, and defends on liability and property damage disputes.

Ms. Halphen currently represents large multi-specialty clinics and their affiliates and employees, including physicians, hospitals, and emergency room physicians throughout the state. In addition, Ms. Halphen has appeared before professional licensing boards including the Board of Pharmacy, Physical Therapy Board, Registered Nursing Board, Licensed Practical Nursing Board, and Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners.

Ms. Halphen is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), one of the premier legal associations in North America, composed of preeminent members of the Trial Bar, and limited to just one percent of the total lawyer population of any state.  She has been a guest speaker at several seminars, and has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the field of Health Care Law.  She is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
