Practicing law since 2008, Taylor Porter Partner Cindy Amedee represents healthcare clients in a wide variety of matters, including healthcare transactions, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state healthcare compliance and regulation, HIPAA, hospital system vendor relationships and purchasing transactions, as well as representing clients on health information technology issues, with an emphasis on the privacy and security of electronic medical records and the exchange of patient health information via technology systems.
Cindy represents large, private and public hospital systems, research institutes, physicians, practice groups, and psychiatric and mental healthcare facilities. Recently, she served as part of the team of Taylor Porter attorneys who restructured the operations of the statewide public hospital system into a public-private hospital model.
Cindy has been ranked by her peers for two consecutive years among the 2017 and 2018 Louisiana Rising Stars in Healthcare Law.
Cindy is a published author and has lectured on several topics, including HIPAA regulations and the Affordable Care Act’s impact on employers. She frequently conducts HIPAA trainings for clients. She has also addressed mental health law issues, with an emphasis on emergency certificate and judicial commitment issues.
Cindy was recently named to the Advisory Commission for the Health Law Specialty, the newest legal specialty approved by the Louisiana Supreme Court and Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Cindy is on the commission to review qualifications of applicants, review attorneys’ applications to gain specialty status, and to help author examinations for those who wish to enter the approval process.
In the community, Cindy is a member of the Board of Directors of Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area and a member of the Healthcare Council for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
