W. Arthur Abercrombie, Jr., is the Managing Partner of the law firm of Taylor Porter. Mr. Abercrombie joined the firm in 1973 after serving four years with the U. S. Army, including a combat tour in Vietnam. He received his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School in 1969 and a B.S. in Accounting from L.S.U. in 1966.

Mr. Abercrombie has concentrated his work in Insurance Defense, now handling mostly large class actions, toxic tort defense and catastrophic products liability cases. He is an active member of the Defense Research Institute, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is also member of the LSU Law Center Board of Trustees and a fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation.

For the past ten years Mr. Abercrombie has served as co-lead counsel for insurers of Gaylord Chemical Company in a class action case alleging toxic exposure to over 20,000 plaintiffs, which has entailed a four month jury trial in Jackson, Mississippi and a three-and-a-half month jury trial in Franklinton, Louisiana. Currently, Mr. Abercrombie is counsel for a Fortune 100 company in a mass tort action pending in Assumption Parish, Louisiana involving over 1000 plaintiffs.

His practice continues to emphasize defense litigation, particularly jury trials, when applicable.

Mr. Abercrombie remained in the Army National Guard after his active military service and retired in 1997 as Deputy Commander of the Louisiana Army National Guard with the rank of Brigadier General.

Mr. Abercrombie was selected for inclusion in Louisiana Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers.
