Mr. John Murrill’s practice is concentrated in the fields of toxic tort, employment law, and higher education law. He has successfully defended clients in state and federal court in all stages of litigation at the district court and appellate court levels, including The Supreme Court of the United States.
Recent notable cases:
Mr. Murrill is admitted to practice before all Louisiana state courts, the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. Murrill received his J.D. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1995, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Managing Editor of the Louisiana Law Review. After graduating from law school, he served for one year as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Polozola, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana. Mr. Murrill graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Mississippi in 1986; after graduating from Ole Miss, he worked for six years in Atlanta as a computer analyst before returning to law school. Mr. Murrill is the Chairman of the firm’s Technology Committee and also serves on the firm’s Associates Committee and Personnel Committee.
