Michelle White’s practice is concentrated in the areas of environmental law and environmental liability and damages litigation. Ms. White provides counsel and representation on a broad range of environmental issues, including regulatory permitting, compliance, enforcement, and other administrative matters before state and federal environmental agencies, adjudicatory bodies, and courts. Ms. White has represented a variety of industry clients, including those in the chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, pulp and paper, and solid and hazardous waste transport and disposal industries. Ms. White has represented clients in permitting, compliance, enforcement, and other administrative matters before state and federal environmental agencies, adjudicatory bodies, and courts.

Ms. White graduated from Louisiana State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and worked as a research and development chemist and an environmental consultant prior to attending law school. Upon graduating from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2000, Ms. White joined Taylor Porter.

Ms. White left Taylor Porter in 2003 to assume the position of In-House Counsel for Environmental, Health and Safety at The Dow Chemical Company. As In-House Counsel, Ms. White had responsibility for environmental, health and safety regulatory applicability, implementation, permitting, and compliance management for multiple chemical manufacturing complexes. Additionally, Ms. White represented Dow in permitting, compliance, and enforcement matters before the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Louisiana Department of Natural Resource, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Ms. White also counseled and trained clients in areas of attorney-client privilege, compliance auditing, incident investigation, and document creation and management.

Ms. White rejoined Taylor Porter in 2007 and was elected partner in 2009.  She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, in the federal district courts for the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. White is a frequent lecturer in environmental law classes at the LSU Law Center and coaches LSU’s Environmental Law Moot Court Team.
