William Kaufman joined the firm in 2005 after receiving his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University that same year. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Kaufman graduated with a degree in International Trade and Finance from the E. J. Ourso College of Business at LSU.

Mr. Kaufman specializes in trial and appellate court litigation with specific concentrations in commercial litigation and personal injury defense. Mr. Kaufman’s recent practice experiences include:

  • Lead trial counsel for national client in breach of contract case in obtaining favorable settlement during jury trial;
  • Actively handling numerous bank and credit union liability cases related to checks and negotiable instruments, credit card transactions, security devices and account disbursements;  
  • Representing international, national and local businesses for a variety of contract issues, including litigation and other disputes related to indemnity agreements, corporate operating agreements, construction contracts, manufacture-dealer agreements, oil and gas operating agreements, and contracts of sale and lease;
  • Lead trial counsel for a national equipment dealer in obtaining a successful jury verdict on breach of contract claims;
  • Defending a variety of businesses, public entities, insurers, and individuals in personal injury actions and products liability cases.

Mr. Kaufman is a member of the Baton Rouge and Louisiana State Bar Associations, as well as Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. In addition, he is involved with numerous civic and social organizations. He is a member of Forum 35 and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce.
