Barton Selected to Inaugural Class of Baton Rouge Business Report Leadership Academy

Taylor Porter Partner and Executive Committee Vice-Chairman Bob Barton has been selected to the inaugural class of the Baton Rouge Business Report Leadership Academy, which is bringing together a cross-section of business leaders, company executives and industry professionals in a six-week program to develop their leadership styles, leverage their strengths, and build their teams, while establishing a strong peer network of like-minded professionals.

The program is geared to hold various workshops of personal development, professional growth, leadership exposure, and feature guest CEO speakers, and over the course of the program, participants will have access to key leaders and cross-sector perspectives, and gain a new peer network to tap throughout their careers.

Barton serves as vice-chairman of the Taylor Porter Executive Committee and co-leader of the Business and Commercial Litigation practice. He is an active member of the Business Development Committee of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Baton Rouge Business Report named Barton as one of Baton Rouge’s “Top Forty Under 40” in 2003. He is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. He served as a member of the LSU National Collegiate Athletic Association Re-accreditation Committee. He has lectured to lawyers, law students, and business groups on various topics related to his practice areas. He is an adjunct professor of law at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he teaches a course on Sports Law.

In the community, Barton is a member of the HOPE Ministries board. He has been an active supporter of the Capital Area United Way, chairing sections and divisions for the 2003, 2004, and 2005 campaigns, and served for six years as a member of the CAUW’s Board of Directors. He was also CAUW’s 2010-2012 Chairman of Community Investment. Barton has participated in the Baton Rouge Big Buddy Program and has coached various teams in youth sports.​ 

Barton graduated from Louisiana State University in 1990, and earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Georgia.
