Lenore Feeney and Barrye Panepinto Miyagi will serve as panelists for a CLE seminar, "How to Win at Trial - Hint: Pre-Trial Prep is the Key." The seminar, presented by the LSBA Civil Law and Litigation Section, will take place at a date to be determined, and include a panel of experienced trial attorneys (plaintiff and defense) who will provide their secrets to successful trial preparation. Topics will include screening the client, pleadings, discovery, preparation of client, fact and expert witnesses, motion practice, jury selection, openings and closings.

Feeney is a Partner and employment lawyer with Taylor Porter, representing employers in a wide variety of human resources matters including preventative advice and counseling concerning compliance with state and federal employment laws such as Title VII, ADA, FMLA, GINA, ADEA, and NLRA and all aspects of employment litigation. Feeney represents a number of state agencies in defending employment disciplinary decisions before the State Civil Service Commission, and she represents both private employers and state agencies before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Louisiana Commission on Human Rights, and Department of Labor, as well as state and federal court. In addition to her 30 years of litigation experience, Feeney has also represented employers in arbitrations and mediations. She has experience drafting employee handbooks, employee evaluation documents, employment contracts and non-competition agreements, and she lectures on employment issues and conducts employee training. Ms. Feeney received her law degree from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1988, and has practiced since then with the firm. In the community, Feeney is the former board chair for the Foundation for Historical Louisiana, and a former board member of the Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center, LSU Hilltop Arboretum, and Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS).

Miyagi is a Partner at Taylor Porter, practicing in the areas of general litigation, toxic tort defense, alternative dispute resolution, and Medicare Secondary Payer and MMSEA (Section 111) Compliance. Miyagi has more than 25 years of experience defending some of the region’s most prominent petrochemical, energy and manufacturing companies, in the following areas of dispute: defending premises owners in chemical exposure cases and other personal injury claims; defending premises and product manufacturers in asbestos-related cases; and managing large dockets of asbestos-related and hearing loss cases. Miyagi has significant experience in handling settlement and litigation issues related to the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. She has written Medicare corporate compliance programs for Fortune 500 Companies, drafted and successfully argued motions to ensure that parties comply with the Medicare regulations and served as the lead defense lawyer addressing Medicare compliance issues in large, multi-party asbestos, benzene and NORM-related matters. Miyagi has experience as a mediator. She attended Harvard Law School’s Professional Instruction for Lawyers - Mediation Workshop. She also has served as the Attorney-Chair on Medical Review Panels and Accounting Review Panels.
