We are sad to report that the Taylor Porter family has lost former Partner and Of Counsel, Bill Wilson. Bill passed away early Monday morning.
Bill practiced with Taylor Porter for 50 years and since his graduation from LSU Law in 1969. Bill’s litigation career with the firm was legendary in many ways. He represented untold numbers of physicians in medical malpractice cases, and was the principal defense attorney for Gulf States Utilities (now Entergy) in casualty cases. He also practiced in drug and medical device litigation, products liability, general insurance, corporate defense, First Amendment litigation, and he was a qualified mediator. Bill was selected among his peers for inclusion in Louisiana Super Lawyers. Bill helped more than 5,000 children through his pro bono service.
Bill developed a passion for the Louisiana coast and its preservation. He was an active member of the Louisiana Marine Consortium. In addition, Bill served as Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Baton Rouge. He was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish while reading.
Bill received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University, where he was a member of Order of the Coif, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Alpha Delta, and Louisiana Law Review. He was an active member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, and The American Board of Trial Advocates.
Bill's family is on our thoughts and prayers.
