Taylor Porter attorney Erin Sayes Kenny served as the committee chair of the annual Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge Steak & Stake fundraiser, held Nov. 3 at the Baton Rouge River Center. Taylor Porter also sponsored the event, which is the local Boys & Girls Club's largest fundraiser of the year in an evening event to recognize the Club's corporate donors. Money raised through this corporate campaign supports programs for school-age youth, which focus on academics, health and character.

​Kenny has served on the Steak & Stake Committee since 2011, and she serves as a board member as well. Taylor Porter Partner John McDermott serves as chairman of the board of governors and a trustee for the Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge.

Steak & Stake is the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge's largest and most important special event where community members are asked to take a "stake" in the youth of Baton Rouge by supporting the Club. At the dinner, six adults share a table with three Club members and spend the evening getting to know each other. All in attendance enjoy entertainment including a performance from a Club choir, musical entertainment and this year, Lauren Westbrook, morning anchor for WAFB 9News in the Morning, served as the event emcee.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge Board of Governors and Board of Trustees are community and business leaders dedicated to helping young people in the Baton Rouge area succeed in life. The Boards provide fiscal management, strategic direction and build a network of like-minded community members and organizations that help the club achieve its mission. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge was established 30 years ago to provide out-of-school-time programs for members. Annually, the Club serves nearly 10,000 young people through after-school, summer, youth legislature, and violence prevention programs. While after-school and summer programs are the foundation of a traditional Boys & Girls Club experience, the Club offers dynamic opportunities to promote the healthy lifestyles and academic success of members. All Boys & Girls Club programs focus on giving youth a fun, safe, environment to develop the skills needed to achieve great futures.
