Kenny, Walsh Present Ethics, Professionalism CLEs for Baton Rouge Bar Association

March 03, 2016

Taylor Porter hosted approximately 50 attorneys on March 3 in the firm’s Founders Room conference space for a Baton Rouge Bar Association Ethics and Professionalism CLE, awarding two hours of credit to all attendees. The speakers and presenters included Taylor Porter attorneys Erin Sayes Kenny and Michael Walsh.

Kenny presented the professionalism portion, “Digital is Forever,” discussing the code of professionalism and how it relates to one’s digital footprint within social media. Walsh covered “You’ve Got Mail. Responding to an ODC Complaint,” for the ethics portion, providing guidance on how to avoid common ethical complaints and how to respond if a complaint is filed against you. An attorney’s failure to adhere to the Rules of Professional Conduct can open the door for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel to step in and investigate.

During the seminar, Kenny and Walsh also discussed issues in Ethics and Professionalism that are frequently encountered and recent legal cases that involved attorneys.
