 "For My Grandchildren: Why I Want to Build Amazing"

Is there anything more important than having world class medical care available to our children and grandchildren right here at home if and when it is needed? For me, the answer is “No!” That’s why I am thrilled to see a freestanding Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital becoming a reality – at long last – and why I am excited about helping, even in a small way, to see this project through.

Many of you already know about the years of planning and the Sisters’ vision that led to groundbreaking in February, and how members of our community are leading this effort. We are ready to see this idea take shape and soon, become a reality. But there is work still to be done.

Our entire community should support this project – each according to his or her ability. All of us need to be invested in something as important as ensuring that the medical needs of our most vulnerable children will be met for generations to come.

I have seen the great care our children receive every day. Children from every parish in the state receive medical care from physicians practicing in more than 25 pediatric specialties. This talented team is making a real difference in the lives of these young patients and their families. They are a special group of people who bring care and compassion to what they do.

So, you may be saying, what can I do to help? Aren’t hospitals expensive to build? I can’t afford to give much, but I recognize the value of this hospital to me, my children and their children. No contribution is too small. All amounts can support the construction and ongoing needs of our children’s hospital. You can do your share by, perhaps, buying a ticket for the 5 Cars 5 Winners red car raffle? You could win a new Lexus and support our hospital at the same time. Or maybe you could buy a ticket to and attend our Fiesta on May 5? Lots of fun and – you guessed it – you support a worthy cause. Or maybe you could just write a check or donate online. Anything you can donate will be appreciated more than you know.

The care our children receive at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is compassionate and advanced. Our children deserve no less and our community should ensure that they never have to leave home for it. The new children’s hospital is our hospital.
