McDermott Featured in The Advocate for Steak & Stake

November 30, 2015

Taylor Porter attorney John McDermott, who volunteers as Board of Governors Chairman of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge, was pictured in The Advocate society section for helping to organize the annual Steak & Stake event on Oct. 22 at the Baton Rouge River Center. Approximately 400 guests attended the local fundraiser. Taylor Porter was also a sponsor of the event.

McDermott is pictured with Susie Furr, Board of Trustees Chairwoman; F. King Alexander, LSU President and guest speaker at the event; and Chris Billings, Event Chairman.

It was an evening set aside annually to celebrate and recognize the Club's corporate donors. Money raised through this corporate campaign supported programs for school-age youth which focused on academics, health and character. The dinner was held at the RiverCenter with the Boys & Girls Club sponsors, community leaders, friends of the Club and Club members in attendance. Guest were entertained by the Club's choir and drummers. This event is special, as it gives donors and community leaders the opportunity to meet Club members, and to see the impact they have on the members' future.

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge Board of Governors and Board of Trustees are community and business leaders dedicated to helping young people in the Baton Rouge area succeed in life. The Boards provide fiscal management, strategic direction and build a network of like-minded community members and organizations that help the club achieve its mission.
