Taylor Porter Partner Tom Peak participated in the 6th Annual Watson's Bird and Sausage Gumbo Cookoff, benefiting the Quad Vets Transitional Housing Program in Hammond and previously benefiting other veteran programs/charities, including Wounded Warriors. Peak's team finished second out of 50, after finishing third out of 50 last year. The event was held in Denham Springs.

At least 3,500 people attended the event, raising $14,000 for the Quad Vets Transitional Housing Program in Hammond.

Attendees sampled 50 gumbos as well as fare from Duke’s Seafood & Steak, Day’s Smokehouse and Councilman Garry Talbert and friends with their pastalaya and enjoyed live music and a kids’ area with snacks, face and canvas painting, an inflatable slide and Games on the Fly. Special guests included parish President Layton Ricks, Live Oak United Methodist Church pastor the Rev. Mark Crosby, Quad Vets director Todd Doctor, the Central High School ROTC, national anthem soloist Roseanne Erwin and the Louisiana Patriot Guard.

At Taylor Porter, Peak is a labor and employment attorney, frequently presenting seminar topics on labor and employment law, and authoring articles in the Baton Rouge Business Report on workplace issues and trends.
