Philips Selected Local Louisiana Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation

November 18, 2015

Taylor Porter Managing Partner Skip Philips was selected a “Local Litigation Star” in Louisiana by Benchmark Litigation, which in its ninth year of publication exclusively covers the litigation and disputes market in North America, covering the US, Canada and Mexico.

The results of Benchmark Litigation stem from the culmination of a six-month research period in which New York City researchers conduct extensive interviews with litigators and their clients to identify the leading litigators and firms. During these interviews, researchers examine recent casework handled by law firms and ask individual litigators to offer their professional opinions on peers. Benchmark Litigation recommendations are based on interviews with the nation’s leading private practice lawyers and in-house counsel.

Philips currently serves as the Taylor Porter Managing Partner and is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. His primary practice areas include state and federal civil trial and appellate litigation, including banking, commercial, insurance, personal injury, insurance coverage, and products liability cases. His practice also includes corporate law, in which he serves as counsel to non-profit organizations.

In addition to Benchmark Litigation, Philips is also selected for inclusion in Chambers USA, Louisiana Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers.

Philips is a member of the Baton Rouge and Louisiana State Bar Associations. He is a former president of the Louisiana Association of (Civil) Defense Counsel. He is approved by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as judge pro tempore of the Baton Rouge City Court and has served as an arbitrator.

Philips is an adjunct professor of law at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he teaches courses on Professional Responsibility and Insurance Law. He is a frequent lecturer on ethics, professionalism and litigation skills. He has served as a member of the Adult Guardianship and Summary Judgment Committees of the Louisiana Law Institute and is a member of the Alumni Board of Trustees of the LSU Law Center.
