Philips, Walsh Volunteer at LSU Law’s Apprenticeship Week

January 19, 2016

Taylor Porter attorneys Skip Philips, Managing Partner, and Michael Walsh, Partner, volunteered to teach, “Strategic Thinking for Lawyers,” at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center’s third annual Apprenticeship Week, taking place January 4-8, and offering a variety of mini-courses aimed at providing students with focused, task-oriented training not generally available in law school courses and usually available only through actual practice experience.

Courses offered include practical, hands-on topics that are taught by volunteer master lawyers and judges. The one-hour credit program was offered free to participating students. Students devoted the week of the program to thoughtful preparation for class and diligent completion of the individual and group projects assigned.

Courses ranged from Advanced “Appellate Brief Writing” to “Lawyering and the Legislative Process;” “Legal Opinions in Business Transactions;” “Managing the Personal Injury Case;” “Mergers and Acquisitions;” “Prosecuting and Defending Federal Criminal Trials;” etc.

Philips and Walsh are both adjunct professors at LSU Law School; Philips teaches courses on Professional Responsibility and Insurance Law, while Walsh teaches a course on Professional Responsibility and Ethics.
