Taylor Porter’s 2018 Summer Food Drive Nets 375 Pounds for Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

July 09, 2018

Taylor Porter was proud to make a donation this morning of 375 pounds of food, and a cash donation to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as a result of the Firm's 2018 Summer Food Drive. Taylor Porter has been a longtime supporter of the local Food Bank's efforts, and Partner Eddie Hughes serves as current board chairman of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank President and CEO Mike Manning, and Yvonne Farwell, Food Acquisition Coordinator, were present to accept the donation.

The local Food Bank distributes approximately 250,000 pounds of food each week to more than 150 agencies within East Baton Rouge Parish and 11 surrounding parishes. Through these agencies, the Food Bank supplies about 9.5 million meals to the hungry in the Baton Rouge area every year. The total need is around 24 million meals per year, making the gap 11.5 million meals. While donations of food and funds are needed year-round, they are especially helpful during the summer. Through donations to the Food Bank, their agencies are able to help provide programs to help meet the needs of low-income children, their families and seniors who face hunger.
