Taylor Porter is a proud corporate partner of the Cristo Rey Baton Rouge Franciscan High School work study program, and the law firm was mentioned in a recent Baton Rouge Business Report article, "Baton Rouge businesses partner with new education model that puts students into local offices."

Under the Cristo Rey model, each student spends one full day of their week working at a local white-collar office to supplement part of their tuition and pick up some real world career training. Its college preparatory program is aimed at low-to-moderate income students and boasts a rigorous academic load. ​The school trains the students on basic soft skills — how to properly dress for work, interact with co-workers, conduct business over the phone and address clients — as well as hard skills such as printing, copying and filing. Then it matches each student up with a company. Last July, the school ceremoniously introduced students to their new employers at a “Draft Day” event.

Cristo Rey partners with 16 Capital Region businesses and nonprofits, all of which employ students one day per week. The school is continually looking for additional partners for its Corporate Work Study Program, and more details can be found online at www.cristoreybatonrouge.org.
