Welcoming Cristo Rey Network President Jane Genster, second from left, to Baton Rouge at a reception hosted by the city’s new private Catholic school, Cristo Rey Baton Rouge Franciscan High School, are board president Vic Howell, Sister Barbara Arceneaux, CRBR President Jim Llorens and Taylor Porter Managing Partner and Cristo Rey Board Member Skip Philips.

Taylor Porter hosted a special reception at its office honoring Jane Genster, president of the Cristo Rey Network, and Cristo Rey board members, corporate work study program partners and donors, to celebrate the build-up of the new Cristo Rey Baton Rouge Franciscan High School, with plans to open this August.

The school will join a network of 30 schools throughout the country in providing a college-prep education with a corporate work study program for low-income families. It will be housed in the former Redemptorist High School.

“You’re joining 10,000 students around the country,” said Genster, adding that the network is not just committed to education but to a Catholic education.

Taylor Porter has committed to a corporate work partnership with Cristo Rey to provide several of its students jobs in the Fall while they are in school as part of the corporate work environment combined with education experience that Cristo Rey promotes nationwide.
