September 14, 2018

Taylor Porter was proud to host a performance by the Southern University Concert Choir for a Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra Pre-Concert Reception, held Thursday, Sept. 13, on the Law Firm's River Terrace. The reception kicked off the BRSO performance, "American Greats," part of the BASF Orchestral Series, held the same night at the First Baptist Church.

The pre-concert reception showcased spiritual and Christian hymn music led by choir director Charles Lloyd, Jr. The choir performed,
"Ain't Got Time to Die," arr. by Hall Johnson; "Jacob's Ladder" arr. by Charles Lloyd, Jr.; and "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel," arr. by Moses Hogan. The BRSO concert featured a celebration of American music, from Antonin Dvorak’s iconic New World Symphony to Pulitzer and Grammy-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s newest work, a BRSO co-commission. Yolanda Kondonassis is celebrated as one of the world's premier solo harpists and is widely regarded as today's most recorded classical harpist.

The mission of the
Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra is to enhance the quality of life in the community through music by producing quality orchestral and chamber concerts, providing music-related educational programs and services, and actively supporting the programs of volunteer-performing and service organizations that share in the Symphony's mission. Taylor Porter Partner Blue Loupe serves as the Board Chair-Elect, while Taylor Porter Of Counsel Debbie Lamb serves on the Board of Directors.

Taylor Porter Partner and Executive Committee Member Preston Castille presented a financial contribution to the Choir from the law firm. Castille served as the immediate past president of the Southern University Alumni Federation.
