Taylor Porter Participates in 25th Annual Baton Rouge Bar Holiday Star Project

December 15, 2016

Taylor Porter delivered holiday gifts to 70 children and 31 families today to St. Anthony Catholic Church, one of the agencies served through the 25th annual Baton Rouge Bar Foundation’s Young Lawyers Section Holiday Star Project. The annual project provides gifts to children in the local Baton Rouge area in a partnership with Volunteers of America Special Services and through several children and education agencies.

The Taylor Porter holiday star drive was organized by Martha Singletary (Administrative and Recruiting Coordinator) and Erin Sayes Kenny (Associate and Member of Baton Rouge Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section).

The Baton Rouge Bar Foundation, a tax-exempt as a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(C)(3) of the IRS Code, is the non-profit arm of the BRBA, which is a voluntary, professional organization of local lawyers and judges that is in its 87th year of service to the community.

The Holiday Star Project makes the holiday season a little brighter by providing Christmas gifts to underprivileged children in our area. Last year, festively wrapped presents, including clothes, bicycles, books and toys, were delivered to local agencies and distributed to the over 800 children they serve. Agencies served by the Holiday Star Project include Children’s Hospital, Family Services of Greater Baton Rouge, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, HAART, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, Gulf Coast Social Services, Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Gerard’s, Volunteers of America-Special Services, and YWCA Early Head Start.

Taylor Porter attorneys and staff embrace the role of “corporate citizens” — and our firm understands that community stewardship requires an ongoing commitment from our entire firm. Whether serving on the boards of directors of nonprofit organizations or making contributions to worthwhile causes, our attorneys and staff make significant contributions to the communities in which they live and work.
