Taylor Porter Partner Amy Lambert was sworn in as the 2019 President of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, serving the legal profession and the public for 90 years and one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the State of Louisiana with more than 2,500 lawyers. The installation ceremony and reception was held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana in front of Chief Judge Shelly Dick, and judges Brian Jackson, John deGravelles, and Erin Wilder-Doomes.

​Lambert becomes the 14th Taylor Porter attorney to serve in the role as BRBA President. She has served in BRBA officer roles throughout the last 10 years, including in positions of president-elect, treasurer, secretary, and former chair of the Young Lawyers Section Council. Lambert succeeds outgoing BRBA President Linda Law Clark. 

Past presidents of the BRBA have chosen a “theme” or platform they highlight throughout the year. Lambert said her theme throughout her presidency will be a yearlong celebration of what it means to be a Baton Rouge lawyer. "The 90th anniversary of any association — especially a voluntary legal association of individuals whose core values of civility with one another and service to the community have been unwavering throughout its existence — is something that deserves celebration not just one day but all year long," Lambert said. "We will take time this year to celebrate our accomplishments of the past, strive to make our association relevant for the present, and finally take the time to prepare our association for the future."

​Lambert reflected on her journey as a lawyer and early involvement with the BRBA in her opening article in The Baton Rouge Lawyer, the magazine of the Baton Rouge Bar Association.​ "I found a group of fun, caring and intelligent individuals who were genuinely proud to be part of this professional community," Lambert said. "They took me in and made a tremendous impression on me. And you know what? What I discovered in the summer of 1986, and what drew me to eventually joining this profession and now serving as the leader of this group, I still find today."

​Lambert said the BRBA will have a yearlong campaign to promote the respect and professional nature of the Baton Rouge Bar along with a special evening event to commemorate the 90th anniversary on August 16, 2019, at The City Club.

​Lambert was joined at the ceremony by her husband, Brad, son Brennan, and daughter Emma Grace. 

​About Amy Lambert

Since 1997, Amy Lambert has practiced in commercial litigation and healthcare, representing physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes in malpractice suits and commercial litigation matters; and representing companies in commercial disputes, unfair trade practice claims, and breach of contract cases. Lambert has represented Louisiana State University and the State of Louisiana in numerous tort, regulatory, and commercial disputes in state and federal courts. She also has defended businesses in various types of work-place injury claims and premise liability claims, and she has experience with mass tort claims, insurance coverage disputes, regulatory agency issues, insurance defense, and personal injury claims. Lambert has lectured to lawyers, law students, and business groups on various topics related to her practice areas. 

Lambert graduated from Louisiana State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and obtained her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1996. Lambert has been inducted into the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame, and was recognized in 2005 as one of Baton Rouge Business Report's “Top Forty Under 40." She has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in Commercial Litigation.

In the community, Lambert is a past chair of the LSU Law Annual Fund. Lambert is a member of the Board of Governors for Theatre Baton Rouge, one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the nation, and is the past president of the Board of Directors for Playmakers of Baton Rouge, a nonprofit professional theatre company for young audiences. Lambert is an active member of St. Aloysius Church Parish, and past member of the Executive Committee of the Wex Malone American Inns of Court.
