Taylor Porter was a proud corporate sponsor of the 2018 and 31st Annual Karnival Krewe de Louisiane Ball, held on Friday, Jan. 19, at Raising Cane’s River Center. The purpose of the Krewe is to raise funds for cancer research, cancer education and indigent cancer patient care in the Baton Rouge area primarily through its membership and annual Mardi Gras Ball. The Krewe, which has raised more than $3 million to date, raises money for Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center as a means to perpetuate the benefits of its philanthropic activities. At this year's event, krewe board President Marilyn Starks presented a $215,000 check to Mary Bird Perkins.

This year’s Ball had an Emerald City theme, based on "The Wizard of Oz," which turned the Exhibition Hall into Dorothy’s home in Kansas. ​King Dr. Chambliss Harrod and Queen Dee Keller reigned over the ball.
