May 09, 2019

Taylor Porter was proud to sponsor the VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) 2019 Apple Awards Picnic, held May 7 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. The organization recognized educational leaders within Baton Rouge with the following awards and honors: Elementary School Volunteer; Secondary School Volunteer; Community Partner; and Crystal Apple.

Taylor Porter attorney
Ne'Shira Millender serves on the VIPS board and executive committee. Volunteers in Public Schools works to build strong partnerships between local area public schools and the community to help students achieve success.

VIPS was established in 1981 after court-ordered busing left the East Baton Rouge Parish school district deplete of community confidence and public involvement. VIPS’ founders understood that public education is community work and knew that in order for our students to excel, they needed the support and participation from our citizens. VIPS recruits, trains, screens, and places individuals, groups, and business representatives into public schools to assist underperforming students.
