Taylor Porter is a proud sponsor of Wednesday's School House Rock Gala for City Year of Baton Rouge, which will take place at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center – cocktails start at 6 p.m. and the program will commence at 7 p.m. Taylor Porter attorneys Blue Loupe, and wife Megan, and Preston Castille, and his wife Marian, are involved on the Gala Host Committee. Loupe was also recently elected to the junior board of directors for City Year of Baton Rouge.

City Year is a non-profit organization that works in several of the public schools in East Baton Rouge Parish. The City Year corps members (recent college graduates) are trained and sent out to work in underperforming schools to help the teachers and children reach their full potential. The corps members work with the teachers to develop and rework lesson plans, and they work directly with children that are showing signs of falling behind. The classrooms that have corps members show immediate, marked improvement from year to year, and the Annual Gala is a way for City Year to relate its progress to the community – through the stories of corps members and the children that they influence.
