Taylor Porter staff and summer associates volunteered for a two-hour shift on July 22 at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, sorting food donations and assembling sorted items into food boxes, totaling 8,400 pounds of food for approximately 500 families in need.

The law firm of Taylor Porter has long placed an importance on community service upon its attorneys and staff, and the day of volunteerism showed the philanthropy side to the firm’s summer associates who are partaking in a six-week program under the guidance and mentorship of Taylor Porter attorneys, learning valuable insight into practicing law in Baton Rouge.

The GBRFB supplies food to 156 agencies in the Baton Rouge area at no cost.  Through these agencies, the Food Bank supplies about 9.5 million meals to the hungry in the Baton Rouge area every year. The total need is around 24 million meals per year, making the gap 11.5 million meals.

Taylor Porter volunteers included: summer associates - Michelle Gros and Yolunda Righteous (Southern University Law Center), Aislyn Taylor (LSU Law Center), Harith Razaa (Loyola University New Orleans College of Law), and Daniel Joiner (Harvard Law School); staff - Julie Dean, Donna Montagino, Lynette Pourciau, Tommy Santora, Sheri Smith and Martha Singletary.

Taylor Porter attorneys and staff embrace the role of “corporate citizens” — and our firm understands that community stewardship requires an ongoing commitment from our entire firm. Whether serving on the boards of directors of nonprofit organizations or making contributions to worthwhile causes, our attorneys and staff make significant contributions to the communities in which they live and work.
