What practice area(s) are you most interested in and why?

I am primarily interested in gaining litigation experience in multiple practice areas. I have enjoyed assisting attorneys practicing in commercial litigation, insurance defense, and class-action litigation. I feel my personality is best suited for a litigation-based workload. I enjoy trial and appellate practice, and Taylor Porter does a great job of ensuring that summer associates get hands-on experience by attending various court hearings and depositions.

How has the Taylor Porter summer law clerk program helped prepare you for becoming a lawyer?

I think that no matter how much you review a subject or listen to your professor lecture, there is no better learning experience than seeing how a subject is applied to real client issues. In the few short weeks I have been here, I have attended court hearings, witnessed oral arguments, and participated in client meetings. The Taylor Porter law clerk program has given me insight into the practical application of what I learned at LSU Law.

Who are your Taylor Porter attorney mentors and what have you learned from them about the legal field that will stick with you?

My mentors are Lauren Rivera and Blue Loupe. They have given me helpful advice throughout every step of my clerkship. During the first week, Lauren gauged my interest in various practice areas and made sure that I was assigned to projects that were aligned with my interests. Blue has given me insight into the transactional practice of law, which was very interesting as I knew little about the transactional practice prior to my clerkship.

What do you like best about the TP Summer Associate Program?

I really enjoy the atmosphere in the firm. Taylor Porter is able to maintain a welcoming work environment while providing top-notch legal services to its clients. I have had the opportunity to sit down with first-year associates as well as partners with more than 40 years of experience, both of which have given me invaluable insight into practicing law in Louisiana. The Taylor Porter attorneys are a very cohesive and skilled group of professionals, and it has been a privilege to work as a Taylor Porter summer associate.
