Taylor Porter Takes The Fight Forward to Support Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

July 28, 2016

Carter Rose Stone, Director of Development of Major and Planned Giving with Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, visited Taylor Porter last week to deliver to the firm's Managing Partner Skip Philips, a commemorative, limited edition print - the Cancer Center's Reflection Room Meditation Art Wall - in appreciation of a multi-year pledge made by the firm to further support the "Take The Fight Forward" campaign, a five-year strategic initiative centered around a comprehensive approach to cancer care and strengthening the Center's position as the destination cancer center in the Gulf South.

Taylor Porter's support of the Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center dates back more than 25 years, and the firm's Partner Brett Furr currently serves as Chairman of the Cancer Center's Board of Directors.

Local renowned glass artist Stephen Wilson created the Meditation Art Wall, “Lord, Hear Our Prayers,” consisting of 174 individual panes in which color bands represent prayers rising. Beautifully interwined colors bridge the Cancer Center’s legacy of displayed stained glass with Wilson’s inventive vision realized through his own Gemeaux technique. Designed to reflect tranquility, kindness, warmth and imagination, the balance of architecture and artwork is eloquently illustrated through modern and traditional views of our natural landscape with jeweled references to light, earth and water. Wilson’s art conveys his deep appreciation for the amazing simple gifts of life and presents a meaningful connection between the physical, emotional and spiritual journey of the healing process – a journey that resonates with all who enter the Cancer Center.
