The local Boy Scout organization, the Istrouma Area Council, is having its annual Business & Industry Leaders Luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza, and the event will feature guest speaker Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards. Taylor Porter has purchased a table for the event as a Silver Eagle table sponsor.

The event proceeds and table sales will greatly benefit the Istrouma Area Council, which much like other area charitable organizations, is feeling the effects of the flooding. Several hundred Scouts, Scout leaders, and their families were directly impacted by the flooding, and many Scouts lost their homes and their Scouting gear. Proceeds from this event will help our Boy Scouts get back on their feet and aid the more than 3,000 adult volunteers to help better serve the more than 8,200 co-ed youth in 13 parishes throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
