Thames Recognized as LADC Young Lawyer of the Year Award Finalist

Taylor Porter Partner Adam Thames was recognized as a finalist for The Frank L. Maraist Award by the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel at the organization’s annual LADC Young Lawyers Awards and Board Dinner held Thursday, Aug. 25, at The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans.

Now in its second year, the LADC Frank L. Maraist Award is named for Professor Emeritus Frank L. Maraist, a celebrated former Louisiana State University Law Center professor and current LADC Executive Director Emeritus. The award, given on behalf of the LADC Young Lawyers Committee, recognizes a young attorney’s professional excellence and service to the legal profession and bar as well as his or her commitment to pro bono work and community service.

Practicing law since 2009, Thames is a Partner at Taylor Porter, engaged primarily in civil and appellate litigation, including commercial, construction, and tort litigation, personal injury, workers’ compensation and insurance defense. Adam also represents hospitals, doctors, nurses, and dialysis clinics in medical malpractice actions. 

Within Taylor Porter, Thames serves as Chair of the firm's Recruiting Committee. He is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. In 2011, he was elected by his peers as a council member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Additionally, he is active in the Louisiana Sports Law Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, where he completed its extensive trial academy training program. Thames is a contributing writer to Around the Bar, the magazine of the Baton Rouge Bar Association.

In 2009, Thames received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.  He was also named to the Chancellor's List, and a CALI Award recipient.  In 2006, Thames graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and a minor in sociology.
