The LSU Law Center hosted the U.S. Army War College Eisenhower Series College Program on Wednesday, March 22, in the McKernan Auditorium at the Law Center. This was the seventh year the Law Center hosted the U.S. Army War College on its campus.

Taylor Porter Managing Partner Skip Philips worked with LSU Law Center and the Eisenhower Series College Program to organize the event. Philips is an adjunct professor of law at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he teaches courses on Professional Responsibility and Insurance Law. He is a retired major general in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was last assigned as Commanding General, 377th Theater Sustainment Command, New Orleans, Louisiana, where he commanded more than 30,000 Army Reserve soldiers in the United States. He is the Army Reserve Ambassador for Louisiana.

This year’s topics of discussion and panelists included: “Diversity in the Military” and “Cost Conscious Culture in the U.S. Military”; “Integration of Women into Combat Positions” and “An Overview of the Army Reserve”; and “Legal Issues of Autonomous Weapons” and “The Commander’s Role in Military Justice”

The U.S. Army War College, located in Carlisle Barracks, Penn, represents the highest level of education offered by the military services, according to program literature. The Eisenhower Series College Program, established in 1969, encourages dialogue on national security and other public policy issues between students of the Army’s senior educational institution and the public at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
