TP’s Vicki Crochet Interviewed for LPB Special, “Drawing the Line: Sexual Harassment in Louisiana”

Taylor Porter Employment, Labor and Benefits Practice Team Leader Vicki Crochet was interviewed by the Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) Network for a promo piece that aired in conjunction with the TV special, “Drawing the Line: Sexual Harassment in Louisiana.” The program aired statewide on LPB, and in New Orleans on WLAE.

Following the introduction piece, there was a panel that discussed how widespread the problem of sexual harassment is in Louisiana, what’s the best way to address it, and where the distinction is drawn between improper and abusive behavior. The panelists consisted of: Craig Broome, Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management; Sen. Sharon Hewitt, R-Slidell; Allison A. Jones; Downer, Jones, Marino & Wilhite in Shreveport; and Janice Lansing, Governor Edwards’ Task Force on Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Policy. LPB CEO, Beth Courtney, and Southern University Vice President for External Affairs, Robyn Merrick, emceed the discussion.

In December,
Crochet was interviewed by the Baton Rouge Business Report in the article, "#BRToo: Baton Rouge Business Scrambling to Understand Sexual Harassment Laws and Policies." The article discussed the recent increase of sexual harassment reports and claims, and what measures businesses can take to install employment policies that help curb these incidents in the workplace. 

Crochet, a Partner and member of the Taylor Porter Executive Committee, practices all areas of employment law, advising clients regarding policies and procedures; representing them before governmental agencies including the EEOC, OFCCP, the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights (LCHR), and the Louisiana Civil Service Commission; and handling all aspects of employment litigation. Crochet also has conducted employee training and is a frequent lecturer on employment law issues. She currently is an associate member of the Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management and the Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management. ​She has received several accolades for her Employment, Labor and Benefits practice. In 2018, Ms. Crochet was selected by her peers among the "Top 25 Louisiana Super Lawyers Women Attorneys," along with her Super Lawyers recognition in Labor and Employment Law. In 2014, Ms. Crochet was named Best Lawyers "Lawyer of the Year in Baton Rouge" in Labor and Employment Law. She also has been selected for inclusion in Chambers USA ​among the "Leaders in their Field" in Labor and Employment Law.
