Updated Guidance from U.S. DOL: Families First Coronavirus Response Act

By Taylor Porter Employment, Labor and Benefits Practice Group

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor issued additional guidance about the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This guidance can be found at:
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/pandemic/ffcra-questions.

Most significantly, DOL has clarified that the Act’s effective date is April 1, 2020. It also provides guidance to employers with less than 50 employees about seeking an exemption from the Act.

There is now a Notice available to employers from the DOL. It is our recommendation that this be posted in your workplace if you have fewer than 500 employees.

The DOL will also be publishing additional guidance. We will continue to update you and are available to answer your questions.
