Practice Group Leader for Taylor Porter’s Energy and Environmental team, Anne Crochet represents business and industry by providing environmental regulatory compliance advice, securing environmental permits, defending enforcement actions, and protecting interests through litigation.
Ms. Crochet counsels generators, manufacturers, recyclers, transporters, and owners/operators of treatment, storage, and disposal facilities in the areas of air, water, solid and hazardous waste management, and soil and groundwater remediation. She also advises as to environmental obligations, protections, and permit transfers in commercial transactions. She has extensive experience defending USEPA CERCLA and enforcement actions and LDEQ remediation and enforcement actions, as well as citizens suits, zoning challenges, and third-party actions against industrial facilities. She has experience in obtaining, defending, and challenging permits issued by LDEQ and LDNR Office of Conservation.
Ms. Crochet’s practice includes agency adjudicatory actions; injunctive, declaratory relief, and damages actions in state and federal district courts; and appellate actions in all forums. She has extensive experience in media relations and crisis management.
Ms. Crochet was selected by her peers as Environmental Litigation “Lawyer of the Year” in Baton Rouge in the Best Lawyers in America 2020 and 2022 rankings, and Environmental Law “Lawyer of the Year” in the 2014 and 2023 rankings. - Obtained operating permits, including Title V and solid and hazardous TSD permits, for solid and hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal operations by major landfill and chemical manufacturing facilities in the state.
- Defended and prosecuted successfully judicial appeals of agency air, solid waste, and hazardous waste permit decisions.
- Defended successfully private actions relative to landfill operations and Superfund site remediation.
- Defended successfully major enforcement actions by the LDEQ and the USEPA.
- Obtained permits and authorizations from LDEQ and LDNR, Office of Conservation.
- Spearheaded the transfer of permits/licensing and obtained necessary authority to operate in complex transactions for manufacturing and pipeline facilities.
- Participates in the development of and/or challenges to administrative rulemaking and legislation.
- Provides compliance consulting and permitting advice.
- Defends and prosecutes litigation relative to complex soil, sediment and groundwater remediation projects.
- Coordinates regulatory and litigation strategies in complex tort cases.
