Taylor Porter Names New Equity Partners
Taylor Porter is pleased to announce that Shelby G. LaPlante and Jen O’Connell became equity partners with the firm effective January 1, 2026.
Shelby LaPlante practices in a variety of areas, including medical malpractice defense, general/tort litigation, and insurance defense. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Shelby received her J.D. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2018 and her B.A. from Louisiana State University in 2015.
Jen O’Connell practices primarily in litigation and general business matters. She was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2012 and Texas Bar in 2019. In the litigation context, Jen’s practice includes trucking and transportation work, workers’ compensation defense, general liability and industrial accidents. She is TWIC certified and has in-depth experience with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act. Jen also represents clients in commercial litigation involving contract disputes, real estate matters and coverage disputes. She has successfully litigated cases in Louisiana’s state and federal courts and has enjoyed numerous successes before juries, bench trials, and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Jen received her J.D. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2012 and her B.A., cum laude, from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2009.
