Workers’ Compensation
Taylor Porter maintains a robust workers’ compensation practice that includes advising clients through the initial claim investigation, ongoing mitigation efforts, litigation, and resolution. We represent Fortune 500 business, national and local insurance carriers, Louisiana’s small business, and third-party administrators. Taylor Porter provides our workers’ compensation clients with adjuster training that often includes CE credits and safety training for local risk managers. We practice throughout the State and have an open and productive working relationship with the Office of Workers’ Compensation. While expedient claim resolution is preferred and often achievable, we are trial lawyers and boast an impressive record securing favorable judgments, when trial is necessary.
Taylor Porter also assists its clients with developing and maintaining Second Injury Fund procedures to increase claim reimbursements. Those efforts have resulted in our clients’ receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars in claim reimbursement from the Fund.
In the tort context, the firm also frequently defends tort suits improperly filed in District Court when employees seek to circumvent the exclusivity provisions of the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Act. This has become an important area of defense in the current litigation climate, and we have successfully defended many of these suits through summary judgment and trial.
