John M. Parker, Jr. is a Partner at Taylor Porter, focusing on uninsured/underinsured (“UM”) insurance and liability insurance litigation, both coverage and defense. John also has experience in public utilities, as well as alcohol and tobacco licensing issues.
John is admitted to practice before all Louisiana federal and state courts.
In the legal community, Mr. Parker formerly served as president of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
John graduated, cum laude, from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2009. He served as a senior editor of the Louisiana Law Review. John’s undergraduate degree is from the University of Richmond, where he finished, cum laude, with dual degrees, including a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Political Science in 2006.
In his spare time, John enjoys playing golf, saltwater fishing, snow-skiing, and rooting for the LSU Tigers.

Representative Experience
- Representing clients in insurance defense issues arising from personal injury claims, for both liability insurers and uninsured/underinsured motorist insurers. Mr. Parker handles both coverage issues and defense on the merits.
- Working with public utilities companies on litigation issues and contract negotiations concerning the rates, terms, and conditions of pole attachment agreements.
- Assisting clients with obtaining or renewing alcohol and tobacco permits in Louisiana, as well as litigation or resolution of citations or permit suspensions by state or local authorities.
