Taylor Porter attorneys represent insurers, reinsurers, insureds, intermediaries, consultants, and regulatory agencies. Our team has defended automobile, products liability, general liability, and other claims for major insurance companies in direct actions and in joint defense groups of excess insurers. In addition, we have represented the Louisiana Department of Insurance in regulatory matters.

A key indicator of the strength of our Insurance Law team is the number of long-standing relationships we have had with some of the largest insurance companies in the industry. Taylor Porter has represented carriers and agencies in both litigation and transactional work, including acquisitions and divestitures. Many of our attorneys have decades of experience handling complex matters for a variety of insurance entities.

Our team advise our clients on insurance coverage issues, and our attorneys are frequently asked to speak at insurance-related seminars. Our attorneys include the author of the Insurance Law and Practice Louisiana Civil Law Treatise, and our attorneys have authored numerous articles related to insurance law issues.

Representative Experience:

• Representing both insurers and insureds in actions seeking defense and/or indemnification under insurance policies.
• Representing both insureds and insurers in insurance coverage litigation for first party insurance claims, including allegations of bad faith and negligent claims handling.
• Representing life insurers in class action lawsuits concerning variable life insurance policies.
• Defending a salt mine owner against a claim for damages caused by a subsidence of the salt mine, while simultaneously pursuing the owner’s claims against its insurers.
• Representing a statewide, construction industry self-insurers fund as general counsel.
• Representing the State of Louisiana in insurance regulatory matters.
