Jonathan E. Thomas

Jon Thomas focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense litigation. He represents physicians, health care providers, and entities in medical review panel proceedings, medical malpractice lawsuits, and matters pending before the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. He has served as lead counsel in and defended medical malpractice claims from inception through trial and appeal and has extensive jury and bench trial experience.

Jon has also advised physicians, healthcare providers, and small businesses in regulatory compliance, risk management, licensing and credentialing, and other matters. In addition to his litigation practice, he has advised small businesses in matters including trademark disputes, noncompete and nondisclosure agreements, and organizing and obtaining federal tax-exempt status as a charitable organization.

Jon received his J.D./D.C.L., cum laude, from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2015 where he was a Paul M. Hebert and Chancellor’s Scholar. He was also a member of the Louisiana State University Trial Advocacy Team. He received his B.A. from Louisiana State University in 2011.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Baton Rouge Disc Golf Association, a local nonprofit organization and 501(C)(3) federal tax-exempt public charity.

When not practicing law, Jon enjoys going on adventures with his wife and two children and playing disc golf.
