Amedee Named to Louisiana Supreme Court’s Health Law Specialty Advisory Commission

Taylor Porter Partner Cindy Amedee has been named to the Advisory Commission for the Health Law Specialty, the newest legal specialty approved by the Louisiana Supreme Court and Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

On Sept. 28, 2017, the Louisiana State Bar Association Plan of Legal Specialization was amended to include Health Law as an approved area of specialty under the jurisdiction of the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Amedee is on the commission to review qualifications of applicants, review attorneys’ applications to gain specialty status, and to help author examinations for those who wish to enter the approval process.

The Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization was first adopted in 1993 by the Louisiana Supreme Court, and was restated in its entirety in March 2017. The purpose of the Plan is to advance the standards of the legal profession by encouraging specialized education in various fields of practice. In addition to health law, the LBLS has certified as specialists some members of the Louisiana State Bar Association who practice in appellate, bankruptcy, estate planning and administration, family law, and tax law.

Practicing law since 2008, Amedee advises healthcare clients on transactions, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state health care compliance and regulation, HIPAA, hospital system vendor relationships and purchasing transactions, as well as representing clients on health information technology issues. She represents large, private and public hospital systems, research institutes, physicians, practice groups, and psychiatric and mental health care facilities. Amedee is ranked by her peers among the Louisiana Rising Stars in Health Care Law.
