Taylor Porter to Host Employment Seminar on May 6

Taylor Porter Employment Partners Vicki M. Crochet, Thomas R. Peak, and John T. Andrishok will present at the Taylor Porter Employment Seminar on Wednesday, May 6th from 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM at Juban’s Restaurant. Registration and a Networking Breakfast will begin at 7:30 AM. The presentations will start at 8:00 AM.

This informative program will address recent development in Labor and Employment Law and will include the following presentations:

  • Signs, Signs Everywhere a Sign – An Introduction to Deaf Culture and ASL (Vicki M. Crochet and Kathryn Cusimano – LSU Digital Archivist)
    • This program will provide interesting insights regarding Deaf Culture, American Sign Language (ASL), and the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • EEOC and Wage & Hour Update (Thomas R. Peak)
    • This presentation will provide an update on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Disparate Impact’s future under President Donald Trump and the U.S. Supreme Court. It will also update the status of the OT “White Collar” exemptions salary minimums that are currently under Court Injunction and address exempt versus non-exempt classification related issues.
  • NLRB Update, Overview of Current Federal Contracting Issues & Status of Independent Contractor Test (John T. Andrishok)
    • Review of recent developments at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and a discussion of key developments in federal labor law, including Davis Bacon Act developments, Recission of EO 11246 and current EEO requirements and Independent Contractor Test update.
