Shelby LaPlante is an Associate at Taylor Porter practicing in a variety of practice areas, including medical malpractice defense, general/tort litigation, and insurance defense. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Shelby has experience representing health care providers in malpractice lawsuits and medical review panel proceedings. Shelby also has experience defending hospitals in EMTALA claims and advising clients on employment issues, HIPAA, and privacy concerns.

Shelby received her J.D. in 2018 from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she served as a senior associate of the LSU Journal of Energy Law and Resources and was an academic mentor for the LSU Student Bar Association. Shelby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Political Science in 2015 from Louisiana State University.

In the community, Shelby is a reading friend with Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS). She also serves on the Great Futures Gala Committee for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Louisiana and is involved in the Baton Rouge Bar Association Holiday Star Project.
